I feel seen! I've just graduated high school and the whole year I was thinking about what to choose - psychology, creative writing, chemistry, maths, engineering, film, journallism? I'm going to study mechatronics engineering but I'm not really confident in this decision. Nice to see others who, too, have so much to choose from!

I absolutely love this conversation! I’ve always called myself “the jack of all trades and the master of none” because I love SO many things. My poor husband, he’s been married to so many different versions of me because I can never decide lol. I even worked in social media for a bit!

I turn 30 this year and I feel like I’m only just now figuring out what my “niche” would be for social media (although Substack will probably stay my place for everything random). The field I’m going into for work now is something I’ve been passionate about since college (although only acutely when I was in school) and I feel like all the things I’ve learned up until this point has built into what I want to do. All of this to say, it’s a process that takes time! I fully understand now why there’s so many big name CEOs who didn’t start their companies until their 50s! They probably just didn’t know what they didn’t know, until one day, they knew 🤷🏼‍♀️

I would have to say that the complete line is" jack of all trades ,master of none but often better than the master of one."and that being a generalist isn't a bad thing.

Emily I’m fangirling that you commented! I love your page ♥️ I hope and pray what you’re going into THRIVES & exceeds all your expectations. Will we get the inside scoop of what that is one day?!

I totally agree that it’s not surprising many business owners launch their businesses later life. The truth is that those who find their ‘dream career’ and/or ‘niche’ early in life are the exception; many don’t find it until way later!

Thank you so much 🥹 I love your page as well!! And yes, I plan to share alllll the details soon!

Just keep trying all the things, go down a bunch of rabbit holes, and keep exploring! Eventually, something will stick or you’ll notice a common theme of subjects you love ❤️

I don’t think I have a niche too and I might never find one I will just stick too. I’m multifaceted and this life I’m going through is ever-changing, so I’m ever-changing too

Im so with you on just continuing doing the things you love and have passion for not matter how diverse they are.

And I agree my place within my family is much more important x

SUCH an important read. I think it’s interesting the way we’re taught that the only way to be successful is to commodify when really the most enriching things are the smallest and most compact.

Yes, the little moments are the real parts of life that shape us!

I think it’s a shame that the internet led us to only allowing one facet of someone’s personality to shine through. A niche is a cage. Though I’m trying to get better at developing one as I need money 🤣

Haha I’m totally with you, Mona. Part of me loves being multifaceted but another part of me feels that’d it’d be so fulfilling to really dive into ONE thing and become so well versed in it that I could help others.

This resonates with me. I would say that there's a clear line of topics that fascinate me, but I have yet to pull them together into a cohesive combo niche. The mental chatter holding me back tells me that these aren't things I can earn income on without degrees or years of experience.

Oh, how this resonates... it's such a tedious thought cycle to be stuck in, making you feel "not good enough", and ignoring all the things you already are so good at! We can be amazing at several things but also lack the "syllabus", if you may, to make them into a niche. We just go with them, live them, feel them... but never sit and dissect them long enough to make them "sellable" as a niche.

But here's to us, kindred spirits with many a passion driving us in life <3

Krissy, you are right! Why do we need a niche, instead of being?
